In 2015, Lakdam embarked on a journey to revolutionize Sri Lanka’s furniture industry. We launched Lakdam at a time when the Sri Lankan market was accustomed to traditional wood options which, although offering durability, lacked distinctiveness. Recognizing the potential for higher quality, imported wood to Sri Lanka, we introduced a range of premium wood and imported timber sourced exclusively from responsibly managed forests. All Lakdam imported wood solutions are premium-grade, sustainable wood solutions, sourced only from FSC-certified suppliers.

Our vision was to elevate the standards of Sri Lanka’s furniture industry and provide our clients with the finest imported wood to Sri Lanka. We partnered with renowned global suppliers to bring in world-class premium wood and imported timber like Oak, Beech, and IPE, empowering local craftsmen to explore new design possibilities and create stunning, durable pieces.

For over three decades, Wasantha has been a driving force, a catalyst for innovation, infusing technical knowledge and service expertise, and cultivating enduring relationships with Sri Lanka’s furniture manufacturers. His passion has been the cornerstone of elevating industry standards, and inspiring a new era of excellence.

Wasantha’s remarkable career is built upon over two decades of profound experience in Sales, Marketing, and Technical Training. A veteran of the industry, he is a dynamic and visionary leader, endowed with exceptional business acumen, masterful negotiation skills, and a powerful networking prowess. These attributes have been instrumental in forging fruitful global partnerships, propelling brands to international prominence. As a pioneer, Wasantha is celebrated for introducing groundbreaking wood coating technology to Sri Lanka, a legacy he continues to expand through comprehensive technical training programs across Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and India, empowering countless painters and trade professionals.

His international exposure is vast and impactful, overseeing sales and technical operations in Sri Lanka, while spearheading operations in Bangladesh, India, Maldives, and Seychelles. Through specialized training and collaborative engagements with business principals in Italy, the UK, and the USA, Wasantha has cultivated a global perspective, continuously enriching his knowledge and extending his expertise across the subcontinent.

Wasantha’s influence extends beyond business, as he serves as a motivational speaker, lecturer, and resource person for esteemed institutions such as the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka (VTA), the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA), the Industrial Development Board (IDB), and the Apprenticeship Training Institute (ATI), shaping the future of skilled professionals. His commitment to education and empowerment is a testament to his dedication to the growth of the industry.

His academic achievements, including an MBA from Anglia Ruskin University, UK, further underscore his commitment to excellence and continuous learning.
